Kiazi is the youngest female chimp at the OKC Zoo — and when Katherine saw her adorable photo, she knew exactly what story she wanted to tell. Here, Kiazi plays the age-old game of chance, plucking petals one by one: He loves me… He loves me not.

But the answer, of course, is never in doubt.

Part of Katherine’s 2026 series The Art of Commitment, this piece is a meditation on God’s unwavering love for each of us. What an extraordinary realization — that even before we contributed anything, even when we were young and frail, the very idea of us caused warmth in God’s heart. He prepared a place for us and gave us a lifetime of experiences to discover His love and our worth.
