Hope Is Alive #28

Add a statement-making, one-of-a-kind accent to your space with Hope Is Alive #28, a 17.5 × 19-inch mixed-media heart collage by Oklahoma artist Katherine Sanders.

A three-dimensional heart extends from a canvas board, layered over a piece of handmade peacock marbled paper used as a mat. The artwork is presented in a silver shadow-box frame and displayed under glass, giving the rich colors, depth, and texture room to shine.

Hope Is Alive Series

Created in the summer of 2025, this series began during a playful weekend in the studio. Katherine revisited paintings, paint palettes, and handmade marbled papers she had collected over many years, giving herself the freedom to experiment, make mistakes, and create without expectation.

Some of the papers and paintings used were nearly 30 years old. These treasured pieces from the past were brought into the future, reframed, and newly appreciated. Every heart in the series is unique, made with handmade marbled papers, studio paint, and painted papers. Many are sculptural, with unusual textures and details that reward a closer look.
