The 4 × 8-inch artwork features pale pink handmade marbled paper collaged onto a wood block. A sculptural heart made from Katherine’s collection of dried acrylic paint rises from the surface and is finished with a glossy resin pour. The piece is custom framed in a natural-colored floating frame, with a finished size of 5.5 × 9.5 inches.

Hope Is Alive Series

This heart collage series began during a playful weekend in the studio, when Katherine revisited paintings, paint palettes, and handmade marbled papers collected over many years. Some materials were nearly 30 years old. By combining these treasured remnants with new ideas, she transformed pieces from the past into expressive works about renewal, creativity, and hope.

Every piece in the series is unique. Look closely for handmade marbled papers, dried studio paint, fragments of paintings, and other found materials. Many works are sculptural, with unusual textures and details that reward a closer look. Each is made with care by Katherine Sanders.
