Hope is Alive Painting #5

Hope Is Alive #5 is a one-of-a-kind mixed-media collage measuring 13×14 inches. It features purple, pink, yellow, and turquoise-blue handmade marbled paper with an extended sculptural heart formed from collected dried acrylic paint.

Custom framed in a gold frame, this piece is a lively addition to a gallery wall or a memorable little gift. The layered papers, dried paint, and dimensional heart create a surface full of color, texture, and personality.

The Hope Is Alive heart collage series began during a playful weekend in the studio, when Katherine Sanders revisited collected paint palettes and handmade marbled papers created throughout the years. She gave herself permission to experiment, combine mediums, make mistakes, and create without expectation.

Some of the papers and paint used in the series are 30 years old. Saved for their beauty and texture, these pieces from the past were brought into the future, reframed, and newly appreciated. Each heart is unique, with sculptural layers, unusual textures, acrylic pours, found materials, or glass and framing that vary from piece to piece.
